Job Description

Job summary To work with patients included in the Southern Gambling Service scope, providing psychological assessments and therapy. This will include working with functional and mental health and organic presentations including neuropsychological assessment. This includes work with carers and families and collaboration with appropriate community services and voluntary sector organisations. Main duties of the job To work as an autonomous, independent practitioner responsible for own work and intervention and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies in providing a highly specialist Psychological Therapies Service. To undertake complex assessments and consultancy, providing expert advice to Psychological Therapies Services colleagues and the wider clinical multi-professional team. To provide specialist treatment for complex cases and plan and prioritise own clinical workload. To comment and propose change to policy or service development within the area psychological service and team. To provide specialist supervision for trainee psychologists and to provide psychological guidance and supervision for multi-professional clinical colleagues. To undertake research and development and develop and encourage a research culture within the wider clinical team. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. The service will operate from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. However, an out of hours clinic is planned in the future (one evening a week until 8pm). Therefore, the postholder will be expected to work outside of normal working hours as part of their role. Treatment options offered to patients would include treatment workshops, evidence-based psychological therapy (short and long term) and pharmacotherapy. Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support. What success looks like
Essential criteria - DClinPsy or DCounsPsy including, specifically, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. - HCPC Registration. - Assessed by application form, interview and certificates.
