Job Description

Job summary The Service Lead for the Norfolk and Waveney Post-COVID Assessment Service provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist assessment and intervention for patients experiencing Post-COVID Syndrome (Long Covid). Responsible for service development, performance, governance, workforce management, and budget oversight, the post holder works across organisational boundaries to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care and effective resource utilisation. The role leads the implementation of national and local Long Covid strategies, develops clinical pathways and policies, supports complex patient assessment and management, and fosters strong partnerships with health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations. As a senior clinical leader, the post holder drives continuous service improvement, promotes best practice, supports staff development, and ensures equitable access to care for communities across Norfolk and Waveney. To provide professional leadership for the Post Covid Multidisciplinary Team, supporting patient flow and effective resource utilisation within the service and providing a point of liaison between NCH&C and partner organisations. To be a senior clinical resource Lead on the implementation and development of the Post-COVID Assessment and Intervention Service. To identify future opportunities to drive subsequent phases of the Post-COVID Assessment Service in line with NHS England National Strategy and Norfolk and Waveney CCG/ICB. What success looks like
Essential criteria - Registered Adult Nurse / AHP - Current NMC / HCPC Registration - Experience working at a senior level - Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development - Management or Leadership Course - NHS experience working at relevant level - Leadership experience - Background of broad spectrum of clinical experience with a level knowledge and expertise which can be acquired through either in-depth experience or theoretical study of a broad range of techniques / processes relating to the knowledge area - Post-registration / graduate diploma level or equivalent in a specific field - Demonstratable commitment to and expertise in own registered speciality - Highly developed interpersonal skills with attention to detail - Experience of developing policies and procedures - Computer literate - Knowledge of standard setting and audit process - Financial management experience and responsibility - Management of an integrated / multidisciplinary team - Ability to both influence and work across professional boundaries - Well-developed verbal and written communication skills - Ability to be influential within the organisation in relation to specialist area - Ability to provide detailed advice to other specialists and non-specialists - Ability to negotiate at all levels - Empathy & sensitivity - Able to communicate sensitive and difficult information to others - Experience of staff recruitment, induction, career development and appraisal - Experience of strategic redeployment of workforce to deliver a service - Able to identify with the Trust's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people / vulnerable adults - Ability to motivate others - Work under pressure - Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service - Demonstrate recent achievements at work - Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines - Able to work sensibly and collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries, recognising changes in circumstances and to incorporate them into practice - Demonstrates awareness of priorities, details with workload, adapts to changing requirements and uses initiative - Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English Language - Able to make own travel arrangements to meet the needs of the service / patients Desirable criteria - Additional post-graduate education in relevant areas - Commitment to achieve Master's Level learning - Management experience - Community experience within NHS - MDT experience - Triage experience
