The Medicines Evaluation Directorate (MED) develops guidance and advice on the use of new and existing medicines (including highly specialised medicines), treatments, medical devices, diagnostics and surgical procedures within the NHS.

The Technology Appraisals programme within MED advises the NHS and patients on the clinical and cost effectiveness of the technologies reviewed and their optimal position in clinical practice.

Main duties of the job
Providing administrative support within the Project Team in the Technology Appraisals programme. Working daily with internal and external stakeholders to provide high-quality support, with close attention to detail.

Developing and administering systems within the centre/directorate

Planning and organising activities and own day-to-day work

Providing efficient and effective administrative and secretarial support to team members, including preparing correspondence and papers, collating, copying and distributing papers and managing diaries

Dealing with day-to-day enquiries by email, referring to other members of the team as appropriate

Responding to queries, tailoring the approach to meet the needs of different groups/individuals

Regular written and verbal liaison with committee members

Liaising with a range of stakeholders both externally and internally Managing correspondence for their area of work

Providing cover and deputising for the Assistant Project Manager in their absence

Assisting in the induction and training of new and temporary members of staff

Undertaking continuing professional development

What you will do

What success looks like

Essential criteria
- Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise work on different projects to meet deadlines which may be conflicting
- Thorough attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
- Knowledge of the job role and skill required through work experience, training and development, or: (A/I)
- Relevant undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification (e. g. non-English qualification), NVQ Levels 4/5, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification,
- A levels or NVQ Level 3 or ONC/OND/BTec Levels 2/3, CPP, or equivalent qualification (e. g. non-English qualification) plus relevant experience or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience and further training/development
- Experience of introducing, developing, and maintaining systems and administrative procedures
- Experience of providing administrative support for multiple projects

Desirable criteria

- Knowledge of current developments in the NHS
