Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated professional? We are looking for a Safeguarding Advisor to join our Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Service (DIUCS) Safeguarding Team.
This is an opportunity to build, consolidate and develop your safeguarding knowledge and expertise working across Safeguarding Adults, Children & Young People's agendas. We are looking for a dedicated professional (General Nursing, Mental Health Practitioner or Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker, Police or Allied Health Professional) with experience and working knowledge of safeguarding children and/or adults.
You will maintain high standards of professional care and practice and demonstrate excellent team work, including good communication and leadership skills. Under the guidance of the IUCS (Integrated Urgent Care Service) Quality Assurance Lead you will be strengthening the delivery of safeguarding practices across IUCS. We will offer you support and continual professional development to carry out your role effectively.
This is a permanent full time opportunity within the Dorset IUCS Safeguarding Team. Part time applications are welcome with a minimum requirement of 15 hours per week. Flexible hours available with weekday, evening and weekend working included. Rota will be agreed at interview to include one weekend a month.

Main duties of the job
Deliver effective safeguarding advice to staff working within front line services, ensuring risk areas within cases are identified and that staff are adequately supported
Support & contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of DHC safeguarding education and training programs
Work in partnership with partner agencies and professionals, within safeguarding processes to improve outcomes

Essential criteria
- Experience of developing and delivering training
- Able to effectively manage available resources in the pursuit of quality service provision ensuring a safe environment
- Able to analyse data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively.
- Registered or professional practitioner (Nurse, AHP, Social Worker, Police Officer ) to professional level /degree/diploma level supplemented by post registration specialist training and/or short courses or demonstrable extensive experience in the relevant specialty
- Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
- Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
- Experience at professional practitioner level
- Demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding interventions
- Able to demonstrate specialist clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information in order to make a clinical judgement regarding risk and management of risk.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing supervision to staff
- Membership of the relevant Professional Body
- Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role
- Recent previous experience within a comparable role
- Experience of specialist working (i. e. within NHS 111 / CAS service)
- Experience of managing change
- Experience of developing specialist programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing highly specialist advice
