Job summary
As Governance and Assurance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting good practice across governance, safeguarding and health & safety. You will provide guidance to staff, coordinate relevant training, and work closely with senior management to monitor compliance, identify risks and ensure appropriate actions are taken.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support governance, quality assurance and regulatory compliance across services, ensuring alignment with organisational and CQC requirements. Responsibilities will include overseeing audits, supporting service improvement, preparing governance reports, reviewing incidents and complaints, and contributing to relevant steering groups. You will also support the implementation of policies and best practice, promote health and safety, undertake risk assessments and site inspections, and work with services to address risks and identified actions.

Job responsibilities
As the Governance and Assurance Officer you will be a key part of the management team responsible for ensuring good practice is adhered to when it comes to governance, safeguarding and health & safety. You will provide guidance and recommendations to staff where necessary, as well as organising any relevant training where appropriate. You will work closely with senior management, providing regular updates and highlighting any potential risks or concerns that will need to be addressed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Governance and Quality assurance
o Support the contracts under your remit to ensure all of the governance arrangements operate in line with organisational expectations and CQC requirements (safe, effective, responsive, caring & well led).
o Oversee the audit evidence submissions and support the Operational Leads where required in the interest of service improvement and regulatory compliance.
o Prepare and submit timely reports on governance, audit findings, and service quality improvement initiatives to senior management as required
o Contribute to the overall quality assurance of ABL Governance systems and take remedial action to improve these where required
o Support senior management to implement organisational policies, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards and best practice.
Take part in companywide steering groups around governance, safeguarding and health and safety.
Review incidents on a regular basis, ensuring compliance to relevant policies and where required, conduct investigations into significant incidents and complaints. Support services to implement the identified actions for compliance.

o Promote and support Health and Safety good practice in the workplace by providing information and relevant training to build staff capability and knowledge.
o Where required, undertake mandatory risk assessments and consider how risks can be reduced.

What success looks like

Essential criteria
- Minimum of 2 years working in a healthcare related role.
- A mature understanding of Governance systems in a health or social care setting.
- Understanding and experience of regulatory compliance in a CQC regulated setting.
- Full Uk driving licence
- The ability to travel independently across an agreed geographical area (dependent on home location) and as required to ABL Health HQ in Greater Manchester.
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need.

Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a health promotion setting.
- Experience in a leadership role.
- IOSH or NEBOSH Qualified.
- Safeguarding Level 4 (Designated Safeguarding Officer)
